WHAT IS HETHAN CLASSIC?
Hethan Classic combines a defined proportion of a fossil-based process gas (e.g. natural gas) with electrolytically generated hydrogen and oxygen to create a stabilized hybrid gas.
The oxygen content in Hethan is significantly higher than in conventional hybrid gases, resulting in a substantial optimization of combustion processes when combined with hydrogen and methane. The flame burns hotter and more steadily, fuel is utilized more completely, and emissions are significantly reduced.
HETHAN CLASSIC - ENERGY FROM THREE SOURCES
Hethan Classic combines the stability of natural gas, the reactivity of hydrogen, and the efficiency of oxy-fuel combustion in a single energy medium.
Because a significant portion of the natural gas is replaced by electrolytic gases (hydrogen and oxygen), substantially fewer fossil resources are required. This results in correspondingly lower natural gas procurement costs, which is one of the reasons why Hethan Classic can be offered at a significantly lower price than conventional natural gas. Thanks to its hydrogen and oxygen content, Hethan Classic also provides a high calorific value that can be utilized with exceptional efficiency.
By reducing the fossil gas content, fossil-related CO₂ emissions are lowered in direct proportion to the natural gas share within Hethan. As a result, CO₂ costs are also significantly reduced—by more than 50%.
SAFE IN COMBINATION
In conventional electrolysis processes, hydrogen and oxygen are separated because, when combined, they form a highly reactive gas mixture (commonly known as oxyhydrogen gas).
Our technology takes a different approach: a process gas is introduced into the system in a sufficient proportion, stabilizing the resulting Hethan gas while also contributing additional energy. The gas composition required for safe practical handling has been determined and validated in accordance with applicable standards by an accredited laboratory.
Our proprietary systems are continuously monitored to ensure consistent gas quality and reliable operation at all times.
APPLICATIONS FOR HETHAN CLASSIC
THERMAL INDUSTRIEL PROCESSES
Hethan Classic is suitable for all thermal industrial processes based on natural gas or hydrogen. The containerized Hethan systems are integrated directly into existing facilities. Requirements include a natural gas connection, a potable or process water supply, and electricity for electrolysis—ideally from renewable sources such as wind or solar power, as well as low-cost surplus electricity. The resulting gas quality enables a stable, highly reactive, and efficient combustion process with high flame temperatures while reducing the fossil fuel share. Existing burners, furnaces, drying systems, and melting processes can therefore continue to operate with significantly lower emissions and without major modifications.
GAS ENGINES AND COMBINED HEAT AND POWER (CHP) PLANTS
Hethan Classic can also be used in gas engines and combined heat and power (CHP) plants, provided they are designed to operate with hydrogen-containing fuels. The containerized Hethan system is installed directly between the gas supply line and the CHP unit, enabling seamless integration into existing infrastructure. The electrolytic gases contained in Hethan—hydrogen and oxygen—enhance ignition characteristics and combustion speed, resulting in cleaner, more efficient, and highly stable energy generation. At the same time, fossil-related CO₂ costs are significantly reduced.
MUNICIPAL APPLICATIONS AND DEZENTRALIZED OFF-GRID SOLUTIONS
For municipal energy projects and decentralized off-grid solutions, Hethan Classic offers distinct advantages. Our containerized systems are modular, scalable, and can be deployed in virtually any location. Thanks to the ability to compress Hethan Classic to pressures of up to 300 bar, the gas can be transported even to remote or hard-to-access sites—such as locations with limited space for containers or without access to a natural gas grid. This makes Hethan Classic ideally suited for district heating networks, neighborhood energy systems, municipal research facilities and laboratories, island communities, and mountainous regions. Wherever a reliable, lower-emission, and decentralized energy supply is required, Hethan Classic delivers its full potential.
AGRICULTURAL VEHICLES AND TRANSPORTATION
Hethan Classic offers a practical alternative for agricultural machinery and gas-powered vehicles. With appropriate modifications, tractors, harvesting equipment, municipal utility vehicles, and commercial fleets can be operated using Hethan Classic. Demand is growing as businesses seek to reduce fossil emissions, avoid rising CO₂ costs, and become less dependent on conventional fuels. Hethan Classic can be produced directly on-site using a containerized system or, where no natural gas connection is available or space for containers is limited, supplied in compressed gas cylinders. This enables a flexible, lower-emission, and location-independent energy supply for mobile applications.
PRODUCTION OF ALTERNATIVE PROTEINS
Hethan Classic has the potential to serve as a cost-effective alternative for biotechnological processes that require methane, hydrogen, and oxygen simultaneously. The separate supply of these gases is currently associated with significant costs. As part of ongoing research projects, Hethan Energy is investigating the extent to which Hethan Classic can be used for the production of alternative proteins through gas fermentation. This approach could provide a more efficient and economically attractive gas supply for emerging biotechnology applications.
EFFICIENT, DECENTRALIZED AND SAFE TO USE
In our reactor, the electrolytic gases hydrogen and oxygen are not separated. As a result, additional processing steps are eliminated, reducing energy losses and significantly lowering both overall energy consumption and system costs.
The technology is integrated into pre-engineered containerized solutions that enable rapid installation and flexible deployment. The systems are designed for long service life, require minimal maintenance, and offer fully controllable operation. Software-supported 24/7 monitoring in accordance with current industrial and safety standards ensures reliable and secure performance at all times.
